Jimmy Taylor - Amedia & Balbex
Jimmy is the drummer for Scottish punks Cold Years, beginning his tenure in 2021. Since joining, they have toured the UK and Europe a multitude of times, with the likes of Billy Talent, Frank Turner, The Menzingers, Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), plus many, many more, as well as performing at festivals such as Slam Dunk and 2000 Trees.
Picking up the sticks at 13, Jimmy concentrated his efforts on forging his own take on punk, rock and post-hardcore drumming styles. He started touring in his late teens, playing for numerous UK bands for the following 15 years. In 2021 he received an unexpected phone call from Scotland asking him to play drums for Cold Years, who he'd toured alongside some years prior.
In September 2023, Cold Years travelled to New Jersey, USA for a month to make their new record with Brett Romnes at The Barber Shop Studios.
"I've hopped around a lot of drumstick brands but have never been truly comfortable with any. After finding Balbex, I couldn't believe how great they felt and played. The weight, the balance, but most impressively to me, the feel of the finish and the durability! I play a lot of rimshot backbeats and have always gone through sticks quicker than my wallet would like. But when I'm out on the road touring, I can rely on these sticks to last. They're absolutely great and I'm proud to use them."
